The custom Hi-Fi cable Ricable
As we have already written in a previous article, Ricable has the ability to build for each customer their own Hi-Fi cable customized in so many ways. This is possible due to the fact that the Ricable cables are handmade, in Italy, and therefore we have total control over them. The customization that our customers can request from us is as extensive as possible, but with certain limits. These limits are given by the fact that we care about both the integrity of the product and the customer's enjoyment of it.
A custom Hi-Fi ``integral`` cable.
Our customers know well how much work behind a Ricable cable is not limited to its physical construction. In fact, design is the part that, detachedly, takes up the most of our time. It happened that, for certain cables, this phase took even more than a year. In the face of this, we really value the fact that every single series and every single cable fully complies with the standard we set for ourselves and originally thought of. The production line must be unique, just as the Hi-Fi cable, no matter how customized, must still be integral at the identity level.
What do we mean by "intact" custom Hi-Fi cable and customizations that cannot be total? We mean that a different length from the standard ones or a braid of a different color than the expected one can only be an accessory customization, without contraindications. It is a different matter in case we start talking about modifications to connectors, or an exaggerated custom length. The moment a cable from the Dedalus series is fitted with connectors from that Magnus, it is easy to imagine the consequences. Perhaps less obvious is to anticipate that even a connector of the higher series Invictus, applied to a cable Dedalus, could be a harbinger of problems.
The speaker cable connector Invictus is objectively superior to that of Dedalus. When it comes to Hi-Fi cables, however, the sum is not always the total. Rather than obsessively adding, in fact, the recipe for the best Hi-Fi cable is the balance between all its features and all its materials. Shielding, for example, protects against interference, but at the same time reduces specific electrical values. Here then, too heavy a shielding may be intrusive in terms of performance without an appropriate conductor to support it. And this is, ultimately, the point of the discussion: we perform very rigid tests during the design and prototyping of each cable, but these would lose any validity the moment too major changes were applied.

Customer protection customizations
Not customizing any cable indiscriminately is a choice that was born to protect the identity of the product and the company, but also the customer himself. Let's think about used, used that has been available for some time for purchase directly on the site Ricable. Having "hybrids" for sale would lead to great confusion, not only for us, but also for the eventual, new owners of the cable itself. But that is not all. With cumbersome customizations we would be forced both to have to invalidate our Lifetime Warranty, as well as preventing access to the Ricable Upgrade service.
Let's take an example
Let us conclude this focus of ours with an example from a similar but different field than that of high fidelity: the automotive field. Let's say you are about to buy your new car and, having chosen the right model for you, you ask the dealer for a few tweaks that go far beyond the expected optional extras. So, an engine from the superior car segment, the rear wing as a dowry to the sport variant of the model you have chosen, and rims from another manufacturer. You will most likely be escorted very politely to the door, or the salesman will propose what is feasible and at the same time as close as possible to your tastes. The good news is that, no matter what, numerous customizations are available. In addition, the Ricable catalog is always changing to accommodate the needs of any audiophile...find out how by clicking the button below!
