I'm not a cable super-expert, I'm not a kook, but I think the truth is always somewhere in between. More of a personal experience than a review. There is definitely a tangible gulf between the cheap red and black wire and a dedicated entry level cable. I'm also convinced that the higher the quality/complexity/cost of a cable, the more the margin of appreciation decreases. It goes without saying that there has to be a sort of balance: the more valuable elements in the audio chain are able to be more revealing, the more a quality cable is able to contribute to the system, to express its sense of existence with respect to a cheaper configuration.
Based on this conviction I wanted to try the best speaker cable from Ricable: theInvictus. In a system that took quite some time for me to access: Grandinote's best integrated, the Supremo, their Volta streamer and their Mach 2P speakers. Having reached a point of excellence with the electronics, one has to move on to fine tuning, improving the cables INTERCONNECT, Speaker and power supply. The new game is then to start trying to understand what the differences can be by improving our connections, especially when you have a concrete idea of the performance of your system after several hours of listening.
As I said, I'm not a cable sceptic but not a cable fundamentalist either, so my starting point was a line of cables just above entry level from a well-known company. I then compared it with the Speaker Invictus cables from Ricable and in a system like mine the difference was quite clear. One of the first adjectives I would use to describe them is 'balance'. I'm particularly sensitive to treble and with this cable I could clearly hear more detail in the treble for less fatigue, which was worth the price of admission alone. The other end also benefits with an even tighter and more controlled bass.
A transparent cable, which is the sublimation of the very task of a cable, that gives back a defined and (pardon the abused term) material sound. If the system will allow it, you will be there to pick up small details that were not so evident before. And most probably much more evident details too.
