What made you choose Ricable?

I became casually acquainted with Ricable a few years ago for purchasing entry level Speaker cables. Since then, I have received emails from Ricable regarding tests done by various customers on various types of cables. Eventually I was convinced to make an initial purchase on the higher-end Speaker cables, followed soon after by a coaxial cable and a pair of INTERCONNECT cables. I also like to feed the economy of the area where I live, and Ricable is very close to where I live.

What do you think about the construction
and aesthetics
of the product?

The products look very good right from the packaging, so much so that the wife wanted to keep them for herself. The cables seem very well constructed and the aesthetics are nice and well done. All the cables are sufficiently flexible. The Speaker cables , being rather full-bodied, have more limited flexibility but still sufficient.

How did you carry out the tests? What tracks did you use to test the cable?

The test was done in a not very "structured" way. What I did is to listen again to my favorite pieces ranging from classical music, particularly Vivaldi, to some jazz, Daft Punk, Jimmy Sax, Santana, etc. These are all pieces that I know very well and I was able to appreciate the differences.

What were your
listening impressions?

I initially purchased the Speaker cables and as soon as they were replaced I immediately noticed differences. The bass was fuller, the treble sharper and more crystal clear (before I noticed some distortion in the high frequencies), and in general a cleaner sound. At that point I did not wait long to purchase the coaxial cable (between streamer and DAC) and INTERCONNECT cables (between DAC and amplifier). I can say that I noticed further improvements but the whole thing (from the purchase of the Speaker cables to the other cables) happened in a short time and I would have a hard time telling where the sound benefited most.

Your conclusions.

Certainly I would recommend the cables to anyone with a decent quality system. I doubt that on low-profile systems one can appreciate the peculiarities of these cables. The cost on the other hand is not very low but seems to me to be absolutely competitive when compared to similar products from other manufacturers. I could appreciate the improvements right away. The cables by the way are still "breaking in" and I notice progressive improvements. For example, the sound of the violin has softened over time.
