Review #2 - Power Cable Dedalus Power - Try a Ricable
Audiophilia has known for quite some time now an increasingly sustained topic of debate, about the importance of cables in the complex system of the Hi-Fi chain that every enthusiast tries to realize to the best of his or her ability.
I admit that the topic has captured my interest not long ago, that is, since the habit of swapping each other's cables became widespread among friends, thus giving the opportunity to test with different cables the reference system.
I follow Ricable precisely as a result of a temporary exchange that made me come into possession of a balanced INTERCONNECT cable, which, in place of my usual RCA, from CD player to amplifier, had given very good results.
Power cords, on the other hand, I notice that they enthuse perhaps less than the other categories, because their contribution to the best performance of the system inevitably clashes with the problems arising from the home network, which is often disturbed and subject to unpleasant fluctuations in intensity. Hence, then, the rush to quality wiring, filters, and multiple space superchargers, which end up costing not only a lot of money but also a sense of the contribution a power cord can really make to good sound.
To be honest, though, Dedalus Power DP15 amazed me by immediately, as soon as it was installed, solving a problem that had been haunting me for some time.
But let's go in order.
The cable arrived from Ricable extremely quickly with respect to my decision to join the trial campaign. And it arrived in extreme quality packaging. Despite its significant weight, I was surprised by its manageability, which allowed me to plug it in with ease, albeit having an uneasy rear space between electronics and power outlet. Compared to the cable in usual use, of a well-known Dutch brand, Dedalus DP15 proved softer, despite weighing almost twice as much.
The connectors turn out to be of a solidity that I have not so far encountered in other cables, and in the above comparison Dedalus wins really easy.

I wanted to try the cable first in connection with the CD player (Yamaha brand model CD-S2000, SACD player). I had no obvious impressions of a difference from the cable I usually used, except for a sense of greater soundstage width, especially with classical performances.
But the real difference could be appreciated in amplifier connection.
I have unfortunately been experiencing for quite some time an annoying hum on my amplifier (Audio Analogue brand, Puccini Anniversary model), imperceptible most of the time, but quite noticeable at certain times of the day, coinciding with mains overload, but also at night times, due perhaps to programmed dips in the supply.
Well, as soon as I connected the amplifier to the grid through Dedalus, no more disturbance was perceived. And this result was a great relief to me.
I was talking about a wider sound, especially in classical pieces: the piano of Sakamoto in Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence and of Debussy in Clair de lune filled the room, according to a three-dimensionality that, paradoxically, seemed more evident to me at medium-low volume than at higher volume.
Here was a sensation, which became tangible, physical, since my finger no longer sought the volume knob. Dedalus allowed me excellent listening at low volumes, especially in pop rock tracks: Magic by Coldplay, as well as Wonderwall by Oasis did not require the usual volumes to which I was accustomed, but were able to spread their full energy even at limited volume.

Have you encountered any?
Well, I believe that what one can ask of a power cord, Dedalus guarantees, in terms of handling, care in construction, the physical importance of the connectors and their definite effect on the cleanliness of the current delivered to the electronics. The effects on sound, however subjective, can only be the logical consequence of the above.
The silence of stand-by, no longer corrupted by the annoying buzzing that haunted me, is the evidence that, more than any other, I would have liked. And Dedalus DP15 gave it to me.
