Construction and aesthetics. Did the cable feel solid and attractive?

Top-notch construction! As soon as you take it out of the excellent package, which then unlike so many who complain about who knows what absurd difficulties in opening it (...) I found it just very well made and appropriate to the quality of the object contained, one immediately appreciates the enviable workmanship and, though less important, an attractive aesthetic.

How did you run the tests to find differences?

I carried out the tests, but only after keeping it connected to the system for the full thirty days required by the regulations, precisely by connecting and disconnecting the Magnus and the other cable in my possession, an Oehlbach Beat! cable, a cable that I would define as the bare minimum to begin listening to music properly. In this regard, the particular workmanship of the connectors, which require screwing in, created quite a few problems for me for this type of operation. In fact, the whole thing got complicated in no small measure by having to unscrew and screw the connectors for each track. The same screwing/unscrewing becomes half a nightmare when one finds oneself reaching behind the electronics with other adjacent cables... To say that normally, once positioned, one leaves them there, it is not as if one does listening tests every day... however, I am not sure that the screwing system is in fact successful in all respects. Here maybe I'm also waiting for opinions from users much more experienced than me and, why not, from the manufacturers themselves. But does a connector made properly but without the need for screwing then really lose anything in fidelity!!!?

How did you carry out the tests? What tracks did you use to test the cable?

I carried out my tests with some reference tracks that I like and know very well; as mentioned earlier I had kept the cable connected to the system and used it for almost thirty days for listening through the DAC connected to the PC not only to music, but also to the enjoyment of movies, video games, and various YouTube content. The tests were conducted with FLAC tracks of excellent quality: Norah Jones - Come Away with Me, Shivaree - Goodnight Moon (outstanding vocals), The Cardigans - Erase/Rewind (unexpected quality recording and impressive stereophonic imaging for a pop song like so many), Allan Taylor - Colour to the Moon, WAV quality (pure CD) and outstanding album from first to last track, Everything but the Girl - Missing also in WAV, Pink Floyd's Learning to Fly, one of the few songs I digest from this very emblazoned band that I have never loved. I then switched out of sheer thoroughness to listening on CD Player, again usual unscrew/screw...but I needed to have a different reference than my usual source, i.e. liquid via PC. Falling into You by Céline Dion, Loud by Rihanna and Mezzanine by Massive Attack, I didn't go any further so as not to make New Year's Eve in front of the PC...

Any differences from reference cables.
Have you encountered any?

Alas few, or at least not as many as I had expected. From the very first connection I had immediately noticed a greater "presence" of the whole, a hint of emphasis on the bass, I had also reported these impressions in chat to Ricable and was answered, with much honesty, that, well, meanwhile it is good that differences can be heard. Indeed, this is not something to be taken for granted, and that the greater emphasis on bass might be due to the fact that it is (the technician's words) a "revealing" cable. Over time, this greater bass presence has been fading, perhaps just the break-in phase has caused the cable to "loosen up" a bit, in any case by keeping it connected to the system at all times I have become accustomed to its sound. At the time of the climactic test I was definitely expecting more differences with my reference cable and instead these differences turned out to be in fact few, in some cases almost none, in others better but my judgment on this cable cannot disregard its purchase price.
If I make a simple comparison with my old cable (a medium quality unbalanced one costing 30/35 €) and this one, a 142 € half-meter semi-balanced one, well, it would be logical to expect a cable that sounds not say four times better but at least twice as good (of course I'm making a bit of Caracas worst forum talk...) but I hope I've made my point. My very personal judgment: I find more justification for the price in the workmanship than in the audio qualities. But of course, this is in no way a criticism of Ricable, all manufacturers charge INTERCONNECT semi-balanced cables triple digits, these are the costs and it is up to the customer to decide whether to take it or leave it.
