The following review of the Invictus Speaker cable is the result of the "Ricable Review" initiative. Ricable Review is the program designed by Ricable, created to collect feedback from audiophiles, in order to lead to continuous improvement of the products in the catalog. Last but not least, those who join the program receive a certificate at home, with the purpose of certifying how the customer has become to all intents and purposes part of the " Ricable" family.
The following Feedback was created on the basis of a predefined questionnaire to which the user returned his impressions, in a completely free. We thank Mauro for his time.

What made you choose Ricable?

Let me preface this by saying that I already owned a cable INTERCONNECT Ricable Dedalus , the build quality and aesthetics of which I could appreciate, as well as the good performance. Needing to replace the Speaker cables with two of shorter length (following the entry into my system of the two Klimo monophonics, which replaced the stereo power amp) I opted again for Ricable, and the choice fell on the top of the range Invictus. But why Ricable? It must be admitted that Ricable does an excellent job of marketing (having a well-maintained website and very well-presented products) and customer care, and I take this opportunity to thank Sergio Modenesi always very kind on the phone to dispense advice. Finally ("last, but not least") the lifetime warranty and the possibility to return products in case you are not fully satisfied.
For the record: Cable ordered / Assembled / Custom made with orange mesh / Shipped / Arrived home in just twenty-four hours. Great service, I would say better than Amazon.

What do you think about the construction
and aesthetics
of the product?

The packaging, made of cardboard, presents itself well. Picking up the cable, the first things one inevitably appreciates are its weight and beauty. It feels a bit like holding a piece of a Pagani car (for those familiar with the philosophy). Cable very well cared for in every detail, including the beautiful braid in the color I chose and the connectors (bananas) that widen as the carbon ring is tightened, ensuring a perfect seal on the speaker connectors. Once the cable was connected, I could easily manage the drafting and its placement between the power amps and the speakers, as it is characterized by excellent flexibility.

How did you carry out the tests? What tracks did you use to test the cable?

Taking five CDs that I know very well, I selected one track from each CD, as per the list below. I then listened to these five tracks repeatedly over several days, at different times of the day, using the Ricable cable that is the subject of this test. I then reinstalled the previous cables (Klimo Aisis Improved) and listened to the same tracks again for as many three days. It should be noted that the Klimo cables are made of copper and silver (3 mm² cross-section), as opposed to the Ricable cables, which are made of MARC copper and 7.1 mm² cross-section.
Finally, at the end of the two sessions of three days each, I performed comparative tests on the same track a few minutes apart, replacing cables Speaker , and listening to specific tracks:

  1. Gino D'Auri - Flamenco Passion & Soul (track 2)
  2. Norah Jones - Come Away with Me (track 1)
  3. Pat Metheny - A Map of the World (track 1)
  4. Yo-Yo Ma Plays Ennio Morricone (tracks 1, 17)
  5. Mike Valentine - Chasing the Dragon - Audiophile Recordings (track 8)

What were your
listening impressions?

Foreword: the topic CABLES is one of the hottest and most controversial in the Hi-Fi scene, which includes several "cavoscettici" and even some "ultras" who do not miss the opportunity to dispense colorful insults to those who would decide to invest a few hundred (or thousand) euros in a cable... Speaker in this case. Although it is virtually impossible for interlocutors to agree on this issue, I have decided to share my listening impressions, following a few experiments conducted on my system, as described above.
Before I begin to describe listening impressions, I will let you know which side of the fence I am on: I believe that all cables are not the same; they can affect the final sound and, especially with cables Speaker , the differences can be noticeable. I also believe that if a cable sounds "better" in a system, that depends largely on its synergy with other components. So, to summarize my position in the Hi-Fi cable debate, I can say that I stand somewhere in the middle, keeping an open mind, adding a dash of common sense, and taking pleasure in performing tests that can in some way enrich my experience.
But let's get down to business: to know that the Klimo Tine power amplifiers cause a very slight, constant hum, which does not vary with changing volume, and which is audible by bringing my ear close to the ribbon tweeter of my speakers. So far I had not been able to reduce it (I tried different cables INTERCONNECT) and I think it is to blame for the design of the power amps. First, and a welcome surprise, I noticed a noticeable reduction in this hum, now audible only if the ear comes within 2 cm of the tweeter. I leave it to the interlocutors to define whether this is due to the "noise reduction" system and/or the double shielding of the cable in question. It is enough for me that it has been significantly reduced.
After three days of listening I can say that the result of the Invictus is noteworthy: very detailed high range, airiness, controlled bass and, most importantly, extreme naturalness. While listening to the album Chasing the Dragon you can't help but close your eyes, and the soprano appears exactly three meters away, as if it were performing in front of you. As I listen to Gino D'Auri's guitar, emotions rise and the crackling of fingers on guitar strings becomes even more audible than I had perceived it so far. And then some might think that the tests were done with "easy" songs (vocals and/or guitar). But on listening to Norah Jones - wonderful voice, but at times difficult to "handle" - the higher tones are well controlled and are always pleasant.

Your conclusions.

I am very satisfied with the sound performance on my system, in which the Speaker cables have the arduous task of leaving the sound and color unchanged - as much as possible - at the source. For this and the other reasons listed above, the cables Speaker Ricable Invictus have as of today "rightfully" become an integral part of my system.

What did you enjoy?

- Build quality and flexibility
- Sound performance filled with naturalness
- Ability to customize the cable by choosing the color of the outer braid, which helped contextualize the cable in my home environment and significantly increases its famous "WAF" (Wife Acceptance Factor) 🙂
- The staff Ricable, always ready to listen to customers
