What made you choose Ricable?

The need to try some good cables for my entry level system, to replace the stripped wire, led me to choose Ricable, an Italian company known on the net. The Primus series was my initial choice. Then, bringing the system to a higher quality level, I thought that the Magnus series would have been more appropriate. But thanks to the fantastic "Upgrade" initiative of Ricable, I was able to buy the even higher series, Dedalus, which cost me practically the same as Magnus, thanks to the fact that I was able to return my old Speaker Primus cables in exchange, valued at the same price paid at the time of purchase. I bought the INTERCONNECT cables using the same method, returning the old ones and getting a good discount. I had bought the jumpers some time before.

What do you think about the construction
and aesthetics of the product?

The construction and aesthetics of the product are impeccable. The very attractive packaging is very well presented and makes it clear what kind of product you are dealing with. A product of the highest level. And it's not only a matter of aesthetics, obviously, because when you pick up and touch the cables Dedalus you immediately have the impression of handling a solid and well-made product. Materials of the highest quality, great precision in the construction, in the assembly of connectors and sheaths. Everything is of the highest level. When inserting the banana plugs there is some resistance at first. No big deal, just proof of a stable and precise connection. I have read on the website the construction specifications and the technologies applied. I can only confirm what Ricable says, based on my very personal listening impressions.

How did you carry out the tests? Which songs did you use to test the cable?

I tested the cables Speaker and INTERCONNECT Dedalus by listening to songs that I know perfectly well. I listen mainly to rock, blues, but am open to other genres as well. I listened to Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits; several AC/DC albums; Toby Arrives by Koch Marshall Trio; several albums by ZZ Top, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Scorpions, Guns N' Roses, Gov't Mule, Blackberry Smoke. I felt the soundstage wider and clearer, indeed crystal clear. Rich in details and particulars that, in some cases, I had never perceived before. Vocals present and crystalline; guitars clear and well defined; bass fast and precise. The real surprise, for me, was listening to the cymbals of the drums that, with the old reference cables, seemed to be in the background. With the cables Dedalus, instead, also the percussion section has reached amazing levels.

What were your
listening impressions?

I am not an audiophile, but I think I have a clear idea of what I am looking for in quality listening. The difference between the Primus cables and Dedalus was immediately obvious. I didn't use any measuring device other than my ear. The sonic transparency and precise detail is what struck me most about these cables. The only "instrumental" test able to confirm what I think are the VU Meters of the Teac power amp that, with the old cables, tended to be asynchronous, that is one remained lower than the other. Maybe due to the fact that from the preamp I feed both the power amp and the active sub, through a splitter. This probably caused a loss of current. But with Dedalus, the VU meter issue was also solved and now they both run in sync. The bass output from the sub is also very clear and precise. I don't get that 'slightly muddy' feeling in the bass anymore.

Your conclusions.

In my mind, I am convinced that the type of cable has a huge influence on the final product of an acoustic signal, be it Hi-Fi or other (e.g. musical instrument/amplifier). Therefore, I say with certainty that without good conductors, such as Ricable Dedalus , even the best Hi-Fi components will never be able to express their full potential. I'm saying something obvious, but that's the way it is.
