The following review of the Dedalus Speaker MKII cable is the result of the "Ricable Review" initiative. Ricable Review is the program designed by Ricable, created to collect feedback from audiophiles, in order to lead to continuous improvement of the products in the catalog. Last but not least, those who join the program receive a certificate at home, with the purpose of certifying how the customer has become to all intents and purposes part of the " Ricable" family.
The following Feedback was created on the basis of a predefined questionnaire to which the user returned his impressions, in a completely free. We thank Luca for his time.

What made you choose Ricable?

Having already at home a 1 m cable INTERCONNECT RCA Ricable Dedalus between the DAC and the amplifier and the remarkable satisfaction of that cable, I also purchased the cable of the same name Speaker between the amplifier and the speakers (Dedalus Speaker MKII). First looking around the various specialized sites for selling Hi-End material and then, seeing that you could buy it directly from you, I preferred to go this route.

What do you think about the construction
and aesthetics of the product?

At first glance, the construction of the cable is decidedly very refined, precision-engineered, and well-maintained, with high-quality terminations. The aesthetics are definitely eye-catching, and the orange color gives a lot of visibility and warmth. The eye wants its share too, but surely your dedication to the construction of the cable is remarkable. Then the purity of the copper makes all the difference.

How did you carry out the tests? Which songs did you use to test the cable?

Of course, the comparison was made with the previous cable, using CDs and streaming with Roon hooked to the portal Qobuz, genres jazz, blues, electronica, progressive rock, new age, all well-known tunes on my part and immediately grasping the difference between the old cable (25 years) of honored service. Careful listening for several hours a day and for several days.

What were your
listening impressions?

The first listening impression I noticed was the audible quality even at a very low volume, the details were immediately noticeable, the bass depth remarkable, a midrange more present and delicate, and the treble firm but harmonious. Then increasing the volume to a consonant value, everything was found to be even more pronounced and precise and of high quality. Quality that I found across the entire frequency range and in all genres of music listened to. Truly a remarkable leap from the old to the Ricable cable .

Your conclusions.

My state of mind in listening to the various jazz, blues, progressive rock, and electronic tracks all appeared more accurate and detailed, with incredible sound and detail, even some detail I had never heard. Definitely credit to the other RCA cable Ricable as well . The combination Dedalus side RCA and Speaker is remarkable. Truly highly recommend both cables for those who want a quantum leap in their system.

The following review of the Dedalus Speaker cable is the result of an initiative born with the collaboration of the French Facebook group 'Audiophile francophone et haute-fidélité'. The initiative was created to collect feedback from audiophilesin order to bring about a continuous improvement of the products in the catalogue. Audiophiles received their chosen cable at home and had thirty days to perform as many tests as they deemed appropriate. At the end of this period, audiophiles could decide whether to keep the cable or return it at no cost.
The following Feedback was created on the basis of a predefined questionnaire to which users returned their impressions, in a manner completely free. We thank Olivier for his time.

  • Dire Straits: Love over Gold and Brothers in Arms
  • Pink Floyd: The Wall, The Dark Side of the Moon et Wish You Were Here
  • Miles Davis: Kind of Blue
  • Youn Sun Nah: Immersion
  • Duke Ellington: Three Suites

The construction and aesthetics of the cable. Was it solid and beautiful to look at?

The construction of this cable is as it appears. A very well presented cable, a high-end finish, the bananas are very well finished and seem solid. The cable is flexible, silky and very pleasant to the touch. A cable that oozes luxury. The presentation in the box is 'very Italian', which is no problem for taste. In the packaging you can see that it is an 'Italian' cable, perhaps a bit too much...

Review Dedalus Olivier Speaker
Review Dedalus Olivier Speaker
How did you test the differences. Do youconnect and disconnect different cables, for example, or another method?

I tested the cable by disconnecting the reference cable which is an Ecosse CS 2.3, tried the two replaced cables and then only one. Several tests were carried out, in different sessions. The first impression was a bit negative, I felt a cold and dry cable, but after a few hours this cable developed its potential. A break-in was necessary before appreciating the high qualities of this cable.

Listening impressions. How did you perform the tests? Which tracks did you use to test the cable Ricable?

I have performed tests on different types of tracks. I use an Audio-GD DAC with Bluesound streamer and Qobuz. In digital listening I listen more to jazz, rock, French variety, 80s ... I also use vinyl with a selection:

  • Dire Straits: Love over Gold and Brothers in Arms
  • Pink Floyd: The Wall, The Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here
  • Miles Davis: Kind of Blue
  • Youn Sun Nah: Immersion
  • Duke Ellington: Three Suites

  • Norah Jones: Come Away with Me
  • Gundula Janowitz: Orff: Carmina Burana

Review Dedalus Olivier Speaker
Any differences from reference cables. Did you find any?

Compared to the Ecosse we have a cable that develops more bass, especially on the vinyl side, but also more detailed and precise treble. Sometimes the bass is a bit too far back (not on the same plane) especially in digital listening. It is more on the vinyl side that makes the difference with more specialisation. I haven't had the opportunity to listen to much, but listening to the Ricable Dedalus Speaker, after hours of break-in, I found it airy, detailed, with warm mids accompanied by tight bass. The price is justified in this cable category. It is a cable to listen to, to appreciate and definitely to keep. It would be good to accompany it with others from the same series and be able to judge the associations.

What made you choose Ricable?

I had the opportunity to appreciate the build and sound quality (albeit of the Primus series) on two different occasions. Already the entry level series returned an impressive result and a tangible difference with the previous wiring. Comparing it to the previous set-up, the result strongly encouraged me to try the Dedalus series.

Dedalus Ricable Review Francesco Saverio
What do you think about the construction
and aesthetics of the product?

Just say: Made in Italy. Exceptional construction and packaging. Possibility of customisation at the highest levels. Aesthetically they are a real BOMB. In every detail you can appreciate the level of craftsmanship. From the materials to the serigraphy, up to the cable ties. Weight and sturdiness at the highest levels. Connectors comfortable to hold and masterful in tightening.

How did you carry out the tests? Which songs did you use to test the cable?

The audio test returned proverbial precision and an absolutely crystal-clear, three-dimensional sound image. The mid-high range is reproduced to the maximum of its possibilities. The bass is restrained, never redundant but at the same time musical. Sincere" voices, precise and well positioned on the musical stage. On the strings, the timbre recalls the construction material of the instruments' loudspeakers. High range present, crystalline and never (never!) tiring.

What were your
listening impressions?

My listening references are: Michel Godard with Monteverdi: A Trace of Grace; Dire Straits with Love over Gold; Patricia Barber with Companion; Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Nils Lofgren and so on. Right from the start, on the wind instruments I found more airiness and spatiality; correct timbre and impeccable positioning of the musical components; the voices crystalline and elegant, central and with an emulative sound image of the stage. Bass is present, strong and never fatiguing. Overall the soundstage is more precise and three-dimensional. The overall image stands as a new listening reference.

Your conclusions.

Anyone who does not believe that attention to wiring marks the difference between a 'before' and an 'after' should seriously rethink their views. This series, sister to the top of the range, fully expresses the potential of impressive construction and a focus on sound rather than mere current flow. In a nutshell, my already high-performing system revealed itself in all its potential!

What made you choose Ricable?

The need to try some good cables for my entry level system, to replace the stripped wire, led me to choose Ricable, an Italian company known on the net. The Primus series was my initial choice. Then, bringing the system to a higher quality level, I thought that the Magnus series would have been more appropriate. But thanks to the fantastic "Upgrade" initiative of Ricable, I was able to buy the even higher series, Dedalus, which cost me practically the same as Magnus, thanks to the fact that I was able to return my old Speaker Primus cables in exchange, valued at the same price paid at the time of purchase. I bought the INTERCONNECT cables using the same method, returning the old ones and getting a good discount. I had bought the jumpers some time before.

Andrea Review Dedalus
What do you think about the construction
and aesthetics of the product?

The construction and aesthetics of the product are impeccable. The very attractive packaging is very well presented and makes it clear what kind of product you are dealing with. A product of the highest level. And it's not only a matter of aesthetics, obviously, because when you pick up and touch the cables Dedalus you immediately have the impression of handling a solid and well-made product. Materials of the highest quality, great precision in the construction, in the assembly of connectors and sheaths. Everything is of the highest level. When inserting the banana plugs there is some resistance at first. No big deal, just proof of a stable and precise connection. I have read on the website the construction specifications and the technologies applied. I can only confirm what Ricable says, based on my very personal listening impressions.

How did you carry out the tests? Which songs did you use to test the cable?

I tested the cables Speaker and INTERCONNECT Dedalus by listening to songs that I know perfectly well. I listen mainly to rock, blues, but am open to other genres as well. I listened to Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits; several AC/DC albums; Toby Arrives by Koch Marshall Trio; several albums by ZZ Top, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Scorpions, Guns N' Roses, Gov't Mule, Blackberry Smoke. I felt the soundstage wider and clearer, indeed crystal clear. Rich in details and particulars that, in some cases, I had never perceived before. Vocals present and crystalline; guitars clear and well defined; bass fast and precise. The real surprise, for me, was listening to the cymbals of the drums that, with the old reference cables, seemed to be in the background. With the cables Dedalus, instead, also the percussion section has reached amazing levels.

Andrea Review Dedalus
Andrea Review Dedalus
What were your
listening impressions?

I am not an audiophile, but I think I have a clear idea of what I am looking for in quality listening. The difference between the Primus cables and Dedalus was immediately obvious. I didn't use any measuring device other than my ear. The sonic transparency and precise detail is what struck me most about these cables. The only "instrumental" test able to confirm what I think are the VU Meters of the Teac power amp that, with the old cables, tended to be asynchronous, that is one remained lower than the other. Maybe due to the fact that from the preamp I feed both the power amp and the active sub, through a splitter. This probably caused a loss of current. But with Dedalus, the VU meter issue was also solved and now they both run in sync. The bass output from the sub is also very clear and precise. I don't get that 'slightly muddy' feeling in the bass anymore.

Your conclusions.

In my mind, I am convinced that the type of cable has a huge influence on the final product of an acoustic signal, be it Hi-Fi or other (e.g. musical instrument/amplifier). Therefore, I say with certainty that without good conductors, such as Ricable Dedalus , even the best Hi-Fi components will never be able to express their full potential. I'm saying something obvious, but that's the way it is.

What made you choose Ricable?

I was familiar with the company thanks to trade magazines, various internet forums of which I am a member and various videos that can be found on YouTube and on the web in general. An important aspect that made me approach these products is the fact that Ricable is a company that designs and manufactures entirely in Italy.

What do you think about the construction
and aesthetics of the product?

In addition to the speed of delivery, I was immediately impressed by the packaging, which gives an idea of the care the company takes with its products. The cables immediately give an idea of the high quality of the cabling, the thick but at the same time very flexible braid and the BFA banana plugs that guarantee a perfect and firm connection.

How did you carry out the tests? Which songs did you use to test the cable?

For the audio test, I simply replaced my cables that I had been using for a number of years with Dedalus and listened to a number of tracks that I use for comparison purposes, namely Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here, Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms and David Gilmour's Live at Pompeii. I also tested the cables with some jazzy Diana Krall music.

Review Claudio Dedalus Speaker
What were your
listening impressions?

From the very first listening I could notice a pleasant sound picture much more precise, with the position of all the instruments and the voices well defined and a depth of the sound scene that I would have never imagined to obtain only by replacing the cables Speaker . I also perceived something that, knowing the design philosophy that does not want to add or take away from the sound message, I would not have expected: a quality and presence of the low frequencies that is much more accentuated and, at the same time, more controlled.

Your conclusions.

In conclusion, I strongly recommend the purchase of these cables for the clear improvement in the performance of my Hi-Fi system that I have been able to notice since the beginning. The price is important, but the quality and the improvement of the performance are worth the money. Moreover, the idea of supporting a company that produces and designs its products entirely in Italy, especially in a particular moment like the one we are living, is a further incentive to choose these products.

Dedalus Speaker Elite

The new line-up of cables Speaker Ricable : let's take stock

In view of the "hot" time of year - evidently not in terms of weather, but in terms of Hi-Fi - Ricable has reorganised the line-up of its cables Speaker . There are brand new products, as well as small, major improvements to existing products. The aim of this review of the offering was to keep the bar high for the Speaker Ricable cables in terms of performance, as well as unbeatable value for money. But another objective was to diversify, at commercial level, the offer, so as to offer everyone the right cable for their system.

New to the line-up: Dedalus Speaker Elite

Starting from the top of the pyramid and therefore from the most prestigious cable, we find Invictus Speaker Referencewhich is not a new entry, but an old acquaintance. Going down a step we find instead an absolute novelty: Dedalus Speaker Elite. Dedalus Speaker Elite was created to fill a hole that had been created with the release of Invictus Speaker Reference. The Reference cable was too big a gap compared to the slightly inferior Dedalus Speaker. A cable was needed that would allow those looking for something "in between" to be satisfied. That cable is Dedalus Speaker Elite. Dedalus Speaker Elite is very close in concept to Invictus Speaker Reference, but has minor limitations that make the cost of the finished product more affordable.

Compared to the 'classic' Dedalus Speaker, however, the leap forward is really significant. This can be seen above all in the naturalness and control of the sound. So much so that the listening dynamics are more reminiscent of its big brother Invictus than of its little brother. Dedalus Speaker Elite is not, however, a Invictus made on the cheap, but comes from a unique and revolutionary project that sees, for example, the conductor designed from scratch with geometry inspired by Invictus and a new livery. All in all, Dedalus Speaker Elite is the ideal solution for high-end systems, even if not of absolute level; in fact, in this typology of Hi-Fi systems, even if there have been some reductions compared to the cable Invictus, the difference in listening is not so high.

Dedalus Speaker Elite

Cables Speaker Dedalus and Primus Speaker MKII

It was just in the last article we published we talked about what MKII means and how it came into being and then entered the world of Hi-Fi. We wouldn't be bringing this up if it weren't for the fact that, in addition to the introduction of the Dedalus Speaker Elite, the standard Dedalus Speaker has had some changes made to the line-up of cables at Speaker that haveled to the MKII version. The main one is the shielding, which has now become double, allowing protection equal to that of the top of the range cables. The internal insulation has also been improved and the R-TEC dielectrics have been increased.

Primus Speaker MKII

While Magnus Speaker MKII presents no additional novelties, also in view of the fact that it had already been upgraded to the MKII version in recent timesthe entry-level Speaker cable Ricable, Primus Speaker, has become a bit more grown-up. How? The most striking thing is undoubtedly the aesthetic restyling, but in addition to the form Primus Speaker MKII also improves the substance. In fact, this new version sees the insertion of an aluminium shielding and, just before the outer sheath, an aluminium cable. mylar just before the external sheath. As we also remind you in the relative product pages, the products with the MKII wording do not refer to a totally new product, like Dedalus Elite Speaker, but to a product revised and improved in its already valid performance.

The icing on the cake: Dedalus Bridge Elite

We have never overlooked the importance of the jumpers. We have never neglected the importance of jumpers, also because the ones supplied are almost always made of very poor quality brass. Here then, to complete the picture of the new cables Speaker Ricable we have the jumpers Dedalus Bridge in their new variant, available both with spades/spades and with spades/bananas, with the conductors of Dedalus Speaker Elite. With this article we hope to have given you a concise but comprehensive overview of the Ricable line-up of Speaker cables. The contents for in-depth analysis, however, are really many, so we refer you to the page dedicated to this type of cables to take a general look and, possibly, deepen each cable by visiting the relevant product page.

What made you choose Ricable?

For some time I have been trying to improve part of my components, among which the cables Speaker ; I was coming from some basic cables by Transparent (sold by the metre) not bad but I was looking for something more. Searching on the net I came across Ricable; for some time I was uncertain between this company and another brand much advertised in various forums; the site, the few but good reviews, the Made in Italy and a certain something made me lean towards Ricable. Actually, I was oriented towards Magnus, I thought they were more proportionate to the commercial value of my system, then a good opportunity in the second-hand ... and I took the Dedalus.

What do you think about the construction
and aesthetics of the product?

As soon as I opened the ordinary cardboard box containing the Dedalus package, I was genuinely surprised and amazed. The packaging is worthy of jewellery products! The first impression when I touched the cables was that they were solid, well finished and carefully constructed... they give a pleasant sense of reliability. Certainly they are not easy to hide, both for their size and for the rather garish colour, but this is an exquisitely aesthetic aspect that in some cases could be considered a merit.
I also liked the detail of the Velcro ties to hold the cables, rigorously branded with the Ricable logo. Even though I bought the cables used, it felt like a new product, both in terms of the packaging and the condition of the contents.

How did you carry out the tests? Which songs did you use to test the cable?

I plugged in the new cables and started listening to a range of music that I know particularly well, from pop-rock to jazz to classical, the latter two being the genres that I listen to the most. I didn't do any comparison tests with my old cables, I knew them quite well and the difference was immediate and so clear that I didn't feel the need for any further comparison.

Ricable Review Andrea
What were your
listening impressions?

Right from the start a number of differences, for the better, were evident compared to my previous equipment. The Dedalus brought out a more articulated and controlled bass range from my speakers, producing the perception of a greater importance of the low frequencies, and their greater intelligibility.
On the higher frequencies there was also a clear improvement, for example the cymbals of the drums or the hi-hat were more limpid, vivid and resonant in the listening room, as in air suspension, with a sound, especially when passing the brushes, pass me the term, "golden". The detail in general is much improved, a small anecdote: while listening to Blue in Green (in Kind of Blue, Miles Davis), towards the end of the piece, I noticed, for the first time, that the double bass makes the last beats played with the bow! What can I say, maybe I had never been so attentive to listening, but the effect of surprise and amazement at having noticed a 'new' sound in a piece that I had heard over and over again made me fall in love with Dedalus.

Your conclusions.

In conclusion, I can say that the whole sound range has improved; in general the sensation is that there has been an enrichment of the harmonics and therefore a more involving, warm and present sound. After what I've written, I can't help recommending these cables; with my system they have brought improvements that, frankly, I wouldn't have believed, obviously we're talking about nuances, but so evident that I think I've spent every penny well. Given the good experience I've had, I'm also planning to buy INTERCONNECT cables for my CD player. Ricable has made my listening sessions happier!

The tests were carried out over several listening sessions. Some with frequent changes of listening to the same tracks, others lasting longer, even several days before replacing the cable with the reference. I wanted to use all the time available to make sure I got the character of the Dedalus.

How did you carry out the tests? Which songs did you use to test the cable?

For the listening tests I used only very good recordings, both in analogue and digital formats. Mainly female jazz vocals and jazz quartets as well as historical classical recordings. This is the music I normally listen to. Diana Krall, Patricia Barber, Sara K, but also Sade and Jacintha for vocals. Gerry Mulligan, Bill Evans, Miles Davis and Art Pepper for jazz. Historical RCA Living Stereo and Mercury recordings for classical.

Any differences from reference cables.
Did you find any?

The insertion of Dedalus is immediate from the very first moment. And this is not always a good start... The scene, the soundstage is very wide both in lateral sense and in depth. The high range is very present, but clear and terse, cold, in short. Voices are rich of harmonics and in focus but lose in body and depth in comparison with the reference. They are made smaller than the reference. The bass range is very controlled and especially fast. Extended and deep, but lacking in energy and warmth, too dry in the mid-bass and this characteristic is what takes away warmth from the reproduction. In prolonged sessions and at important levels, the listening fatigue makes itself felt.

The following review of the cable Speaker Dedalus Speaker is the result of the initiative "Prova un Ricable", born, in collaboration with listening groups or Hi-Fi forums, to collect testimonials from users, in their own reference Hi-Fi system. from the actual listening experience of the users, in their own Hi-Fi system of reference.
The following Feedback has been realized on the basis of a predefined questionnaire to which the user has returned his impressions, in a way completely free.
We thank Gabriele for the time he has dedicated to us.

Construction and aesthetics. Did you find the cable solid and attractive?

The cable arrived in a beautiful case and immediately looks well made and aesthetically appealing with the orange cotton-look outer sheath. I like very much the connectors but, besides the aesthetic side, they are sturdy, very heavy and, once inserted the banana plugs of the loudspeakers connectors, they have a firm and very stable grip, something that I have not often found when it happened that some banana plugs, inserting them, got squashed, resulting slow and I was forced to widen them again. I tend to move the speakers before and at the end of listening sessions and no longer have to worry about the pin slipping out and endangering the amp.
The cable is a generously sized bipolar cable but is very flexible. It is not possible to view the cable as it is 'closed' by the connectors. As the speakers are bi-wired, I asked Ricable to send me their jumpers, also from the Dedalus series and terminated with spades; these are also excellently made and the spades is heavy and robust.

How did you test for differences?

The tests were carried out first of all on my main system, alternating different types of cable Speaker , conducted by four people at the same time and with blind listening, where one of us took turns replacing the cables, waiting a few minutes before listening, as it is a valve amp. CDs and vinyl were listened to.
The system consists of Graaf GM50 tube integrated amp, Aliante One Zeta Pininfarina loudspeakers, Marantz SA-KI Pearl Lite CD player, Thorens TD-125 MK1 turntable with SME 3009 S2 tonearm and Benz Micro ACE L\Denon DL-103R cartridge and DIY prephono with INTERCONNECT Kimber Kable cables and Wireworld power cables.
A short listening session has been made using as Amplifier a Unison Research Simply Two, but although the latter is very good, it doesn't interface well with the speakers, although the characteristics of the Dedalus have emerged also there and agree with the same results found with the Graaf.

How did you carry out the tests? Which songs did you use to test the cable?

After a few days of break-in, I started to listen with a critical and attentive ear.
I must point out that, unlike the solid state amplifiers I previously owned, now with the Graaf the differences, although subtle between various cables I tried, were always audible.
My reference cables, since years, are the AudioQuest Rocket 88, but I also own the Wireworld Mini Eclipse single wire with jumpers and the cheap AudioQuest FLX 14/4 and the Van Den Hul CS-122.
With the Ricable I have gained a lot in the low range, now more present but controlled, and above all the mid/high range and the high range are now more present, vivid and the scene much wider. The presence of harmonics makes the instruments more "real", helping the listening and the general pleasantness.
For the test I have used some Original Master Recording CDs and SACDs, as well as some test CDs that you often hear at Hi-Fi fairs, or Peter Gabriel's OVO bass range or Nora Jones' SACD to test female voices.
On vinyl the excellent Analogue Productions pressing of Take Five where the Ricable made the double bass sound well focused, harmonic and present. The same was true with a Bill Ewans LP, At Shelly's Manne-Hole, and some Hi-Q Records vinyl of classical and symphonic music to test the soundstage width and dynamics.

Any differences from reference cables.
Did you find any?

As I said before, the Ricable have replaced the AudioQuest Rocket 88, which cost almost twice as much and were bi-wired with silver bananas; the latter are very silent, refined in the mid range, with a hyper controlled bass range and a deep soundstage. However, to my ear and to the ears of those present, they appeared too controlled, poor in harmonics and, above all, incredibly dark. Compared to the Ricable, we realized that we were listening to "part of the sound message", which lost musicality and, except for the voices that were very good and the refinement, the rest seemed lacking in everything.
The Wireworld Mini Eclipse single wire with jumpers are also very good cables, but unlike the Ricable 's, they didn't give that deep, controlled, extended bass range. They are much lighter. The high range sounded less articulate and beautiful.
The Van Den Hul CS-122 I keep in my drawer cannot be compared, too closed, dark and with bad focus. Rubbery bass range.
The AudioQuest FLX 14/4 are simple Speaker cables that I have not even compared, already at that time too poor in comparison with the AudioQuests.
I reiterate that the above is the result of several listening sessions carried out in different days and of tests made in the presence of other people who agreed with what stated above and, above all, at my home and on my system. Surely on other systems and other environments the judgements may not agree.
