La seguente recensione del cavo USB Magnus è il frutto dell’iniziativa “Ricable Review”. Ricable Review è il programma ideato da Ricable, nato per raccogliere feedback dagli audiofili, al fine di portare a un continuo miglioramento dei prodotti presenti nel catalogo. Ultimo ma non meno importante, coloro che aderiscono al programma ricevono a casa un attestato, con lo scopo di attestare come il cliente sia entrato a tutti gli effetti a fare parte della “famiglia Ricable”.
Il seguente Feedback è stato realizzato sulla base di un questionario predefinito a cui l’utente ha restituito le proprie impressioni, in maniera completamente libera. Ringraziamo Dennis per il tempo che ci ha dedicato.
As a regular visitor to a local audio store Omera Audio at Vlaardingen (The Netherlands) I became familiar with the Ricable brand. I myself had pretty much the entire cabling of AudioQuest. I read the Ricable folder in which an explanation was given about the construction of the copper and the connectors and my interest was triggered by this.
To put Ricable to the test, I took a demo Dedalus interlink with me. After a few hours of warming up, I replaced the AQ cable between my DAC and AMP for the Dedalus and sat down for it. Wondering if I could perceive a difference, I put on the same piece of music and instead of listening to the small differences in the details my mouth fell open.
The music came to life so much more and a much better stage than with the more expensive AQ cable. After switching back and forth a few times, I was surprised every time. The Dedalus, which is cheaper than my AQ cable, performed several levels higher.
I immediately bought the Invictus cable and compared it with the Dedalus and the Invictus interlink went even further in everything. Until today I have replaced all my AQ cabling for Ricable Invictus cabling and Dedalus power cables and with every replacement I had a significant improvement in my system compared to the AQ.
The only connection I did not have from Ricable yet was the USB connection between my Innuos streamer and my Metrum Ladder DAC. Here an AQ Coffee USB cable did the signal transfer. I subscribed to a message from Ricable regarding the new Magnus USB cable. Two weeks later it was delivered and I could test what the differences would be.

the aesthetics of the product?
The AudioQuest cable costs 449 € (1,5 m) and the Ricable Magnus USB costs 94 € on the same 1,5 m length. I first compared them visually and Ricable already has the first plus point. The AQ Coffee appears visually in comparison to the Magnus as a fragile thin cable. The Magnus looks and feels like a premium cable. Since appearance doesn’t always say something, I compare them both with songs that I know well.
did you use to test the cable?
I let the Magnus play for a day before I actually start comparing. I always compare A/B with three numbers. If you haven’t heard it by then, the difference is very small. I play the songs in its entirety and then repeat the first minute before switching the cable. I do this with every change of cables.
listening impressions?
First I play Our Love Is Easy by Melody Gardot and start with the AQ. The beginning of the song sounds oppressive when the strings start. When the Ricable takes care of the transfer, the song sounds a bit more dramatic and Melody’s voice sounds a lot more intimate. When I switch back to the AQ, I notice that the Ricable performs better in terms of voices.
As the second song I play Grace of God from the beautiful album Weltschmerz by Fish (ex member of Marillion). The beginning sounds very holographic on both cables, but again in terms of voice the Ricable Magnus sounds a lot nicer. When I play with the AQ, the low end seems a bit more turned on and sounds less tight, which has a negative influence on the midrange.
As the third song I play Giorgio Conte with Gnè Gnè, it is striking that the pace, rhythm and timing of the Magnus is very good. It sounds so nice that you no longer want to pay attention to details but want to enjoy the music.
When I return to the AQ it sounds fine in itself, but the Magnus just sounds a bit more pleasant, more music enjoyment!
Your conclusions.
If we consider the price of the cables, the surprise is complete and the Ricable Magnus is chosen over the factor 4.7 more expensive AQ Coffee.
Ricable has already surprised me a lot last year and now again with the Magnus USB cable. For the price, it really is a no-brainer. If the Magnus is already playing at this level, I am really looking forward to the Dedalus and the Invictus.

Come visitatore abituale del negozio Omera Audio a Vlaardingen (Paesi Bassi) ho acquisito familiarità con il marchio Ricable. Io avevo praticamente l’intero cablaggio di AudioQuest. Ho letto la brochure Ricable in cui veniva data una spiegazione sulla costruzione del rame e dei connettori e il mio interesse è stato innescato da questo.
Per mettere alla prova Ricable, ho portato a casa un cavo demo Dedalus. Dopo alcune ore di rodaggio, ho sostituito il cavo AQ tra il mio DAC e l’AMP a favore del Dedalus e mi sono seduto. Chiedendomi se riuscivo a percepire una differenza, ho messo lo stesso brano musicale e invece di ascoltare le piccole differenze nei dettagli sono rimasto a bocca aperta.
La musica ha preso vita, così come un palcoscenico molto migliore rispetto a quando era collegato il più costoso cavo AQ. Dopo averli scambiati un paio di volte, sono rimasto sorpreso. Il Dedalus, che è più economico del mio cavo AQ, si è comportato decisamente meglio.
Ho subito acquistato il cavo Invictus e l’ho confrontato con il Dedalus e il cavo Invictus è andato ancora oltre, in tutto. Ho sostituito tutti i miei cavi AQ con cavi Ricable Invictus e cavi di alimentazione Dedalus e a ogni sostituzione ho avuto un notevole miglioramento del mio impianto rispetto all’AQ.
L’unica connessione che non avevo ancora da Ricable era la connessione USB tra il mio streamer Innuos e il mio DAC Metrum Ladder. Qui un cavo USB AQ Coffee eseguiva il trasferimento del segnale. Mi è arrivato un messaggio di Ricable riguardante il nuovo cavo USB Magnus. Due settimane dopo è stato consegnato e ho potuto verificare le differenze.
e dell’estetica del prodotto?
Il cavo AudioQuest costa 449 € (1,5 m) e il Ricable Magnus USB costa 94 € della stessa lunghezza di 1,5 m. Li ho confrontati per la prima volta visivamente e Ricable ha già ottenuto il primo punto a favore. L’AQ Coffee appare visivamente in confronto al Magnus come un cavo sottile e fragile. Il Magnus sembra e si percepisce come un cavo premium. Dato che l’apparenza non dice sempre tutto, li confronto entrambi con canzoni che conosco bene.
Ho lasciato funzionare il Magnus per un giorno prima di iniziare effettivamente a confrontare. Confronto sempre A/B con tre numeri. Se non percepisci alcunché, la differenza è piccola. Faccio suonare le canzoni nella loro interezza e poi ripeto il primo minuto prima di cambiare cavo. Lo faccio con ogni cambio di cavi.
le tue impressioni di ascolto?
Per prima cosa faccio partire Our Love Is Easy di Melody Gardot e inizio con il cavo AQ. L’inizio della canzone sembra opprimente quando iniziano gli strumenti a corda. Quando il Ricable si occupa del trasferimento di segnale, la canzone suona un po’ più drammatica e la voce di Melody suona molto più intima. Quando torno ad AQ, noto che il Ricable si comporta meglio in termini di voce.
Come seconda canzone suono Grace of God dal bellissimo album Weltschmerz di Fish (ex membro dei Marillion). L’inizio suona olografico su entrambi i cavi, ma ancora una volta in termini di voce il Ricable Magnus suona molto meglio. Quando suono con l’AQ, la fascia bassa sembra un po’ più accesa e suona meno tesa, il che ha un’influenza negativa sulla gamma media.
Come terza canzone faccio partire Giorgio Conte con Gnè Gnè, colpisce che andatura, ritmo e tempismo del Magnus siano molto buoni. Sembra così bello che non vuoi più prestare attenzione ai dettagli ma vuoi goderti la musica.
Quando torno ad AQ suona bene di per sé, ma il Magnus suona solo un po’ più piacevole… più godimento musicale!
Le tue conclusioni.
Se consideriamo il prezzo dei cavi, la sorpresa è completa e il Ricable Magnus viene scelto al di là del fatto che sia 4.7 volte più costoso dell’AQ Coffee.
Ricable mi ha già sorpreso molto l’anno scorso e ora di nuovo con il cavo USB Magnus. Stando al prezzo, sulla scelta non c’è da pensarci. Se il Magnus è già a questo livello, non vedo l’ora che arrivino il Dedalus e l’Invictus.
