Robust, beautiful, and heavy cable. When I received the box I thought I had been sent an amplifier! First of all, a premise: the cable has been inserted in a chain composed as follows: SACD/CD player - headphone amplifier - headphones. The cable replaces the standard one and was tested in turn on:
- SACD/CD player with listen through the whole chain
- Headphone amplifier with whole-chain listening
- SACD/CD player with headphone output (without amplifier)
Initially I was impressed by the bass range that came to life. The aspects that showed changes to my ear, after repeated listening, are: the greater detail, the increase in dynamics, the greater speed, the articulation. I was particularly struck by the pianissimo which maintained articulation and musicality. All this gives me the impression of having turned up the volume slightly, everything flows easy, fast. The original cable seems darker, monotonous and certainly lacking in detail. These impressions are repeated as the three conditions mentioned above change, and the feeling, but it's only a feeling, is that the greatest effect is with the amplifier. I've listened to symphonies by Bruckner, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven piano concertos, Renaud Garcia-Fons, Ana Popović, Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa... Now I'm curious to listen to the set-up with both cables Dedalus; not only that, I'm curious aboutInvictus XLR! And... well, enough of that.
