What made you choose Ricable?

I took a good step forward. I have returned to mature listening after many years of inactivity. I had some doubts about my hearing abilities (56 years old) after years of rock and blues played live and I owned an average Hi-Fi system but with years of non-use that showed some problems on the speakers. I chose to start again using the following setup: Rotel RA1572MKII amplifier, Sonus Faber Sonetto III speakers, Cambridge CXN and CXC sources. QED power cables and Chord interconnects. The Speaker speaker cables were self-made by the person who sold me the system but of good quality. Reading technical articles, I decided to take a higher quality step on speaker cables and chose Ricable Magnus Speaker MKII cables.

What do you think about the construction
and aesthetics of the product?

Well constructed and packaged product. Visually makes a very good impression of quality and careful workmanship. Banana connection terminations are quality and showed no hardness or insertion problems while showing excellent stability. Cable sufficiently stiff overall but with loose ends that allow banana plugs to be inserted into amplifier and speaker terminals effortlessly.

How did you carry out the tests? Which songs did you use to test the cable?

Listening environment the living room at home with some acoustic correction elements. I evaluated listening using reference Qobuz playlists that I have created for myself over the past year using the Cambridge CXN source and with a CD collection with emphasis on rock and blues tracks with some digression to jazz performances and live concerts using the CXC transport and using both the DACs in the network streamer and the Rotel amplifier.

What were your
listening impressions?

What impressed me most was the widening of the optimal listening position. Previously, the optimal listening position was very limited and defined. Moving the head a few inches changed the sound front significantly. With the cables Ricable the "optimal" listening position has increased to a good meter. In addition, the sound front, position of instruments and voices are even more defined and precise. The vertical and in-depth width of the sound front also seems expanded, making listening to live concerts much more real. All the live tracks heard during the test: Giorgia - Mtv Unplugged Giorgia, Eva Cassidy - Live At Blues Alley (25th Anniversary Edition), Eric Clapton - The Lady In The Balcony: Lockdown Sessions, Norah Jones - 'Til We Meet Again (Live), The Rolling Stones - Live At The El Mocambo 1977 gained in spaciousness and dynamics.

Your conclusions.

I must admit that I was initially hesitant about the possible acoustic impact of "cables" in general, but then, as I studied a little technical literature (I am still an electrical engineer) and studied the associated theory and mathematics, I realized the importance. Particularly of having balanced components always trying to improve the weakest element in the chain. The Ricable cable represented a quantum leap. The path of improvement does not end here, but this experience was definitely positive. Brava Ricable!
