The following review of the Primus Signal cable is the result of the "Ricable Review" initiative. What made you choose Ricable?

Wanting to replace my old cables, and having read positive reviews about the Primus series, I decided to try the Primus RCA to connect the phono preamp to the amplifier. So I logged on to the website of Ricable, selected the Primus RCA cable, and after looking at the specifications and seeing that the price was within budget, I decided to purchase it.

What do you think about the construction
and aesthetics
of the product?

The Primus RCA cable is delivered in an elegant box. Aesthetically the cables are pleasing to the eye, the outer braid is a nice gray-white color, and they are flexible but not soft. The connectors are gold-plated and make good grips on the RCA jacks of both the amplifier and the phono preamplifier.

How did you carry out the tests? What tracks did you use to test the cable?

The comparison was made with my old Monster Cable Interlink 100 cables. For the comparison I used the following rock music LPs: A Momentary Lapse of Reason, 45 RPM, Pink Floyd. And the following jazz LPs: Time Out, The Dave Brubeck Quartet; A Love Supreme, John Coltrane.

What were your
listening impressions?

For comparison, I listened to the same track first with Monster Cable and then with Primus. I repeated the test, alternating cables, for the following tracks:

  • Pink Floyd: The Dogs of War and Round and Around from A Momentary Lapse of Reason
  • John Coltrane: Resolution and Pursuance from A Love Supreme

What can I say, the Primus won on all fronts: more transparent, neutral and musical, the sound more defined and wide. For its price it outperforms the others at less than 100 euros after several comparative tests. There is no doubt about it: my system has gained.

Your conclusions.

Satisfied with the purchase in fact I also bought Primus Coaxial to connect the CD to the DAC of the Denon amplifier and I already have plans to replace the cables Speaker always with the Primus line. Excellent and well sounding cables and last but not least made in Italy. Highly recommended for all mid-level systems.
